Libraries

Each congregational library applying should prepare a detailed statement of goals, functions, and activities of the congregational library program. Particulars of the report should be accompanied by documentation, supportive literature and photographs. Each library will be judged on its own program. The items listed serve as guidelines for your submission.

  1. Describe any innovative/creative projects or programs developed by the library since May 2009.
  2. What is the regular schedule of the library?
  3. How does the library support programs of early childhood education or Religious School?
  4. Describe how the various segments of your synagogue population (i.e. teenagers, USYers, senior citizens, etc.) may use the library.
  5. How is the library a part of the congregation's adult education offerings?
  6. How do synagogue staff and faculty make use of the library?
  7. Describe how the library celebrates Jewish Book Month.
  8. How has the library incorporated electronic media and resources?
  9. How does the library serve as a general community resource?
  10. How does the library publicize new books and events?
  11. How are funds allocated for library resources?
  12. Libraries of the 21st Century are changing in various ways. Who is planning for changes in the library (acquisitions, resources, services, etc.) in your synagogue and what is the process?
